Dayton Learning Center teams up with Shenandoah Bike Coalition
Dayton Learning Center and Shenandoah Bike Coalition teamed up on Friday, May 29th for a team building activity. To begin this opportunity, Mr. Fitzgerald- Director of Alternative Education, Mr. Bojanich- Director of Secondary Education, and Ms. Holloway- Principal of Dayton Learning Center met with the Shenandoah Valley Bike Coalition in January to develop a plan for students and introducing them to trail riding. Mr. Zach Foster came to DLC to meet with students and show them equipment and explain how The Shenandoah Valley Bike Coalition worked. DLC was asked to send eight students to assist with trails. Students were able to earn this trip as an incentive. Students who were interested started working to earn the trip as a reward time. This partnership introduced students to a new sport, provided team building with school staff and students, and gave the students an opportunity to be proud of a final product: the trail they built. A special "Thank You" to Mr. Fitzgerald and Mr. Bojanich for assisting with this new opportunity for Dayton Learning Center and The Shenandoah Valley Bike Coalition for offering this experience to DLC!
